I offer in-person talk therapy to individuals, couples, and families, and play and art-based therapy to children ages 4+. If my office is not accessible you, I also offer virtual therapy across California to teens and adults.
Individual therapy
Do you find yourself frequently trying to distract yourself from feelings of anxiety, sadness, or listlessness? Have you struggled with loneliness, or feeling like you don’t belong among your peers and loved ones? Are you wanting to better understand yourself and those around you? If you would like to gain clarity around how you fit into your relationships and into the greater world around you, to begin healing lingering past wounds, or to understand and better manage challenging feelings and emotions, then individual therapy might be helpful for you. We will explore how early life teaches us key messages related to belonging and worthiness, and how to create new narratives to replace unhelpful, distressing lessons from the past.
Couples/relationship therapy
Are you and your partner(s) seeking a supportive space to process hurt from betrayal, or to find better ways to understand and communicate your respective needs and feelings? Would you like to uncover your shared or misaligned values and goals, or navigate the challenges of a multicultural or interracial relationship? In working with me, couples can expand their understanding of how the lessons and values they internalized in early experiences can continue to arise in their current relationships, how to identify and take ownership of deeply ingrained unhelpful patterns, and how to increase their understanding and compassion for their partners and themselves during conflict. I support couples’ progress with warmth, transparency, non-judgment, and humor whenever possible, encouraging openness, greater self-awareness, and a shift in both perspective and behavior.
Child therapy
Therapy with children can look like play, art-making, talk therapy and family therapy. A client-centered approach to child therapy follows the lead of the child and allows them to determine what they are interested in and what will be helpful on a session-by-session basis as we build a warm, supportive therapeutic container for them to process their deep feelings. From the attachment-focused perspective, your own childhood relationships with your parents and how you grew up are important to understand as we talk in depth about your child, their issues and problems, and your relationship with them. Because of your importance in your child’s life, you can expect that we will meet regularly without your child to process any challenges your family is experiencing, and to guide how you interact with your child in and out of the therapy room.
